Over the past few weeks the 1st Pinxton Scouts have taken part in various district events and done activities as a group.

They entered the district Ready Steady Cook competition in February when Josh Leon and Ben cooked a three-course meal and served it to the judges, unfortunately Pinxton didn’t win but enjoyed taking part. South Normanton Scouts won and they represented the District in the County round last week.

Pinxton held its district Founders Day service at St Helen’s Church where the troop were joined by other groups from South Normanton, Alfreton, Tibshelf, Somercotes, Explorers and Network thanks to Penny and Carol for doing the service. There was a talk by Laura Lloyd District Commissioner about Scouting and the reason why we celebrate February 22 and then an activity making armour. The Scouts renewed their promises and the flag bearers did an excellent job and all looked really smart.

The Scouts have also taken part in the District twilight competition which involved starting off from Amber Hotel at Oakerthorpe and planning a route to finish off at Teversal Visitor centre without being caught by the chasers. Bernard led the team of Daniel K, Charley,Ewan and Daniel F and it took them 5 and a half hours to complete the walk they did get caught a few times but they enjoyed it.

During group meetings Scouts have decorated tea light holders and made cards for Mothers Day, cooked pancakes, walked up to Dunnicliife wood to make fires with the Network Unit.
