Person dies after being hit by train near Alfreton
A person hit by a train near Alfreton station died at the scene, police chiefs have confirmed.
British Transport Police attended the line close to Alfreton station on Saturday (September 24) after a person was truck by a train at about 1pm.
Paramedics from East Midlands Ambulance Service attended but the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious.
A file is now being prepared for the coroner.
Trains between Sheffield an Nottingham via Alfreton were delayed for a number of hours on Saturday afternoon.
