But Christopher Ellis set a precedent at Tideswell Male Voice Choir’s big annual charity concert in Buxton on last night (Sunday), earning his accolade halfway through the evening.

The choir’s principal accompanist entertained an awe-struck audience with Rhapsody in Blue, a difficult piece with its intricate passages of light and shade. Christopher’s epic performance delighted its listeners as well as being fascinating to watch as his fingers danced up and down the keys of the grand piano.

Playing in tandem with The Band of the Royal Air Force College, this sublime pianist’s performance was the undisputed highlight of the Reach for the Skies concert.

Top performance of the second half was an emotionally-charged, roof-raising rendition of Do You Hear the People Sing? from Les Miserables featuring the combined forces of choir and band which totalled nearly 80 performers.
