A man has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Clay Cross this morning.

The accident occurred at around 9.30am on Holmgate Road when a car hit a pedestrian and then a lamppost.

The male pedestrian suffered a head injury and was taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The female driver of the car was arrested.
