A Peak District company has developed two classrooms for students to learn more about the the National Park area.
Hope Construction Materials has created two versatile areas at its Cement Works in the Hope Valley including a fully kitted out indoor classroom which is in the company’s social club and an outdoor learning space in the nearby wooded area.
Working with the Peak District National Park Authority’s Learning and Discovery Team, Hope Construction Materials has developed these classrooms to offer much needed outreach educational facilities.
In addition to giving students easy access to the surrounding Peak District National Park, the location of the classrooms offers them a chance to see an important industrial operation up close.
The indoor classroom can accommodate up to 25 students and offers audio-visual and IT facilities. The outdoor space has a wooden seated area and enables students to take a closer look at local biodiversity. Peak District National Park Authority chief executive Jim Dixon said: “This is a fantastic new facility that will help more young people experience the wonder of nature in the Peak District National Park.”
