PARK lovers are due to be treated to a fantastic new development with wildlife gardens and an entertainment space for outdoor theatre and musical performances.

The Friends of Bolsover Parks group clinched £49,947 of Big Lottery Community Spaces funding to transform the run-down bowling green at Hornscroft Park into the Bowl Project with gardens and seating for about a thousand people.

A group spokesman said: “We’re over the moon. It goes to show what can be done when a few determined people get together. The Bowl will be a big asset.”

The project which is underway follows a successful Old Bolsover Town Council scheme to revamp the region’s five parks and introduce new play equipment.

Friends of Bolsover Parks who helped reintroduce Bolsover Gala to Hornscroft Park have also been supported by Bolsover Rotary.
