Chesterfield’S mayor welcomed the mayor of one of the fastest growing and successful areas of China to the town hall.

The Mayor of Kunshan, Lu Jun, visited Chesterfield Town Hall during his trip to the area to see Chesterfield-based manufacturing company Fusion Group.

The Fusion Group has a manufacturing venture in Kunshan, China, as well as joint ventures in eighteen other countries.

It is one of Chesterfield’s largest private sector employers with over 350 employees based at its headquarters on the Chesterfield Trading Estate.

The Kunshan delegation met with the town mayor and Chesterfield Borough Cllr Peter Barr, as well as Chesterfield Borough Council’s chief executive Huw Bowen.

He also met Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce’s David Hood before going on a tour of the town and Chatsworth.

The Mayor of Chesterfield Peter Barr said: “It was an absolute pleasure to meet the Mayor of Kunshan and his colleagues.

“We had some interesting discussions about future possible links between Chesterfield and Kunshan.

“It’s great to know that there are still manufacturing companies in Chesterfield such as the Fusion Group having worldwide success and who take the lead in bringing overseas visitors to the town.”

Kevin Raine, Fusion Group Managing Director, said: “We were delighted to show our colleagues from China around the Fusion site and welcome further talks about developing links between Chesterfield and Kunshan with the Council.”
