DRONFIELD: Champion choir is hitting the right notes

A group of young choristers are celebrating after singing their way to the top of a county competition.

The Northfield Junior School choir beat off competition from 20 other groups to be named winners at the Bolsover Choir Festival, belting out their rendition of Titanium by house music DJ, David Guetta.

A medley of traditional African songs was also sang by the group at the event on June 19.

Rebecca Timperley, headteacher of the school on Falcon Road, Dronfield, said: “We are incredibly proud of them for what they have achieved. They were commended for their strong, controlled unison-singing, harmonies, and positive energy.”

The group won £500 which will be spent on a party and on providing music equipment.
