Open day to recruit mill volunteers

An open day is being held to recruit more volunteers at Belper’s North Mill.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 22 when prospective volunteers can meet the staff and find out more about the opportunities available at the Grade I listed tourist attraction.

The mill’s looking to fill the following roles: information officers to meet and greet visitors and help run the shop and café; tour guides and gallery assistants; education and event assistants to help with the design and delivery of events and educational groups at Belper North Mill; volunteers to provide marketing support for education and events including managing a mailing list of specialist organisations and tour operators.

Museum manager Sarah Skinner said: “There’s lots of benefits to volunteering. You can enhance your CV and meet new people.

“Whether you’ve got a love of local history or want to play a part in conserving a site of vital local importance then we’d love to hear from you.

“You have the opportunity to work as part of a small friendly team and you’ll have plenty of scope to develop your skills and creativity.”

The recruitment day will run from 12pm until 4pm.

Booking is advisable and anyone interested in attending the open day can contact Museum Manager Sarah Skinner, or Engagement officer Ruth Litton on [email protected].
