OLD BRAMPTON: WI members take part in Women Walking the World event

Old Brampton and District WI met in the schoolroom, Old Brampton, where the president Pat Presland welcomed members.

Lunch and tea were served by the committee.

Several members took part in the Women Walking the World event to raise money for projects supporting women around the world. Kath Shelton gave members an update on the ACWW project equipping and supporting children’s hospices in Romania.

The president introduced the national resolution for 2013 which was supporting our high streets and a lively discussion ensued on more specialist shops offering good value and service, better car parking and council support. The motion was carried and was an overwhelming vote supporting the resolution.

The reading group will meet on June 18.

The branch celebrated the institute’s birthday with lunch at Chesterfield Golf Club, attended by 27 members who were welcomed by Pat Presland.
