Police are appealing for information after two plants were stolen from a graveyard in North Wingfield.

The plants have been taken from a grave at St Lawrence’s Church sometime since Wednesday, February 27.

PC Sarah Dolby, of the North Wingfield, Pilsley, Stonebroom and Shirland Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, has been making enquiries in the local area.

She said: “Over the past year there have been seven reports where plants have been pulled out and plant pots and ornaments taken from graves at St Lawrence Church and we have been carrying out regular patrols of the area.

“While the reports have been quite sporadic, each one is distressing for the families who visit the churchyard to tend to the graves of their loved ones.”

Anyone with information should call Derbyshire police on 101 or Crimestoppers on on 0800 555 111.
