Post Office services in services at Ashford in the Water are it be restored, it has been announced.
In the wake of the branch closure on March 18 – owing to the resignation of the subpostmaster – it was not immediately clear whether any services would be reinstated.
But this week Post Office Ltd revealed plans to open a ‘outreach service’ to residents.
The service will operate from the same location as the previous post office and will be open on Monday and Wednesday between 10am and 1pm.
The same range of products and services will be available and the service will reopen on April 24.
Post Office spokesperson Dave Smith said: “Our priority is to safeguard services in the longer term and establishing this outreach service presents the best possible solution to restore a Post Office to customers in Ashford.”
The new service is subject to a period of public consultation – which closes on May 9 – so the Post Office can determine if a permanent service will be reinstated. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
