A NEW team of workers will search for areas that need special attention in thorough clean-ups.

The SpirePride Squad at Chesterfield Borough Council is to look at problems such as litter, graffiti and dog fouling but will also alert other organisations to other issues regarding potholes or street signs.

“A number of sites in Hasland, Old Whittington and Boythorpe have already been cleaned-up by the SpirePride Squad which has made some big improvements,” said Cllr Ian Openshaw, lead member for sustainable communities and climate change.

“We’re very pleased with the achievements so far and will be working closely with our Housing department to identify areas for further clean-ups.”

The special team is working with the council’s housing and other services to identify areas that need some special attention to make sure the borough looks its best.
