A motorcyclist has been treated for a broken wrist after a crash on the A61 bypass in Chesterfield.

The 52-year-old rider, of Sheffield, was airlifted to the Royal Derby Hospital after colliding with a car near Whittington Moor roundabout at about 4.10pm yesterday.

The northbound carriageway of the bypass was closed for nearly two hours as the air ambulance landed.

The incident caused major tailbacks on both lanes and widespread traffic chaos across Chesterfield.
