LIGHT shows will illuminate two historic buildings to bring Derbyshire’s mining heritage to life.
Over 1,000 people living near Derbyshire County Council’s regeneration project at Markham Vale have taken part in a project to record the site’s former use as a pit. Thousands of photographs were collected at community events plus visits to seven schools.
Voice recordings of people’s memories of the area have also been made and the images and audio will be combined in two spectacular events called ‘The Gathering’.
They will be staged at Staveley Hall on Friday October 21 and Bolsover Castle on Saturday October 22 – with giant images projected onto the buildings.
The county council-led project has been coordinated by the externalGalleries arts company. Both free events run from 6.30pm to 8pm. Gates open from 5.30pm.
