CONSTRUCTION of a 42,000sq ft design and build facility has commenced at Henry Boot Development’s Markham Vale scheme in Chesterfield for local company Squadron Medical.
The new facility will be the medical supply distributor’s national distribution centre and headquarters and is the largest bespoke unit to be built at Markham Vale to date.
Squadron Medical Geoff Young said: “We are really impressed that our move to Markham Vale will result in significant savings due to the building’s efficiency.”
Squadron Medical operated from three smaller units in Staveley and Chesterfield but soon realised their need for expansion.”
The company has also taken advantage of Henry Boot Developments’ “Try Before You Buy Scheme” allowing them to have a short term lease at Markham Vale’s Waterloo Court whilst their new facility was being built.
The bespoke facility, which includes 9,000 sq ft of offices, will take just 26 weeks to build and features a full height glazed reception area. Squadron Medical also has an expansion land option on the adjacent site.
It is one of the latest companies to take advantage of the Markham Vale Enterprise Growth Zone, off Junction 29a, near Bolsover. MEGZ was developed at the old Markham Colliery by partners including Derbyshire county and Bolsover district councils.
