Youngsters living in Mastin Moor helped clean up their local area this week.
Twenty-four young people turned out for a litter pick on Wednesday, May 29, clearing up rubbish at the Lansbury Avenue park and surrounding streets.
Thirty-two bags of rubbish were filled during the event, which was organised by Staveley Multi Agency Team, Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team, Mastin Moor Tenants and Residents Association and Chesterfield Borough Council Spire Pride.
PCSO Sue Cooke said: “It was a really successful day and I think the youngsters enjoyed taking part. There were prizes for those children who collected the most litter and the park is looking much cleaner thanks to their efforts.
“I hope the day helped instil in the children a sense of pride in their local community.”
