“She also described that there had been a previous assault which had resulted in a caution for the defendant but things had improved since then.

“The defendant had been to the doctors to get help and he was drinking alcohol to a lesser extent.

“But on this occasion they had gone for a drink together at The Gardener’s and as the complainant left the pub things were not good between them.”

Ms Haslam told how Crilley grabbed and squeezed Miss Mosley by the arms in the street.

The complainant stated that she was left very stressed out after the assault, had to go to the doctor’s and lost a large amount of weight.

She added that she had to have time off work and the incident had placed a strain on her relationships with family and friends.

Crilley pleaded guilty to the assault which happened on March 19.

Defence solicitor Paul Mcleod said the extent of the assault was that Crilley had grabbed hold of Miss Mosley’s arms and had squeezed them.
