A PEDESTRIAN was hospitalised with a cut to his head after being hit by a lorry that failed to stop.
The man, aged 60, was left in a ‘serious’ but non life-threatening condition at the Northern General Hospital following the collision on Chesterfield Road, Woodseats, at around 2.40pm on Monday.
A police spokesman said the incident took place near The Abbey pub and the large white truck did not stop at the scene.
The police helicopter was later used to try and find the vehicle.
She added: “The man suffered a cut to his head which was bleeding quite badly, although he was conscious and breathing.”
Nearby roads were shut - causing congestion on one of the busiest routes through Sheffield – including Abbey Lane from Mitchell Road to Greenhill Road.
Witnesses, or anybody with any information, can call police on 101 quoting incident number 623 of Monday November 28.
