BIRDS at a Chesterfield park have new nesting boxes thanks to big-hearted nature lovers.

More than 100 people flocked to Queen’s Park to take part in a nest box building event organised by Chesterfield Borough Council.

In total 58 nest boxes built – 30 for blue tits and the rest for robins – in the event held as part of national nest box week on Thursday.

Cllr Chris Ludlow, council executive member for environment said: “I am pleased to see so many people take part in the nest box building event – particularly the children.

“It is important that they are able to learn about how to care for local birds and wildlife from an early age.”
