PUPILS have bid a fond farewell to lollipop lady Val Smith who has retired from New Bolsover Primary School after 27 years.

Wendy Fletcher, of the school, said: “She’ll be missed. She always had a smile, she was very caring about the children and she was very diligent in her job.”

Mrs Smith was inundated with retirement gifts from pupils and staff.
