A family-run caravan park in Buxton is celebrating being named the best site in the region - and one of the top 100 in the country.

Clover Fields Touring Caravan Park were voted the regional winners for the Heart of England region in Practical Caravan magazine’s Top 100 sites competition.

As well as taking home the regional prize, Clover Fields was also a finalist in Practical Motorhome’s top 100 sites.

And the award was extra special for the caravan site as it was voted for by their customers.

Jan Redfern, who runs Clover Fields with her husband Stephen and children Jodie, Tom and Jessica, said: “It is amazing for a little park like this.

“It is like a tick for the park in terms of us being up there with the best.

“It feels as though the park has secured its spot against its peers.

“We started it from nothing so it feels like we’ve been approved and we’re up there with the best of them.

“It’s almost like the industry approves of Clover Fields.”

Customers were asked to assess the park on a number of criteria, including cleanliness and the quality of the facilities.

Jan and Stephen found out they had scooped the award at a special event held at Birmingham’s Hilton Hotel last week.

And hearing their name being called out as winners left the pair speechless.

“It was exciting. We’ve never been in that position before and we weren’t expecting it,” Jan added.

“We knew the other 14 sites (in the Heart of England region) were tough competition so we weren’t expecting anything at all.”

Jan and Stephen opened Clover Fields, in Harpur Hill, in 2004 and have since devoted a great deal of time and effort to the adults-only site, so winning the award indicates that their hard work has paid off.

“It will definitely bring new customers and will reinforce the awareness of Clover Fields as a park,” Jan said.

“We definitely think it will encourage more visitors.

“It’s like a double whammy for Derbyshire because Callow Top (holiday park in Ashbourne) won the Practical Motorhome regional category, so this is a big boost for Derbyshire.”
