The biggest (and best) playtime!

The biggest children's play area in Amber Valley has been officially opened to the public.

Amber Valley Borough Council successfully applied for 243,725 from the Big Lottery Fund which also paid for play areas in Heanor Memorial Park and Crays Hill Recreation Ground in Swanwick.

Cllr Jack Brown, who performed the official opening, said: "The new play area has completely transformed this part of Alfreton Park, and is a great facility for local families.

"In developing the plans for the park we consulted with the local community, including parents and the Friends of Alfreton Park, to ensure that we would provide facilities that the people of Alfreton would want and use.

"We hope that the new play facilities in Alfreton will prove popular with parents and children from across the borough and will give lots of enjoyment for many years to come."
