Tess cooks up a treat!
A budding super-chef served up a recipe for success after she beat off stiff competition to clinch a top cooking award.
Tess Buckley (15), of Castleton, wowed judges to win the Rotary Club of Hope Valley’s Young Chef of the Year contest.
A rotary club spokesman said: “Tess charmed everyone with a main course of lamb meatballs with prunes and mint and a dessert of lemon and chocolate tart.”
The Hope Valley College youngster was joined in the contest by fellow students James Barron (15), of Hope, Lily Fairey (14), of Eyam, and Phoebe Eyre (16), of Bamford.
The four were assessed on their choice of healthy food, meal planning and timing, cooking skills, hygiene and presentation and received certificates. Winner Tess was also presented with a set of kitchen knives.
Tess’ success means she has also qualified for the Rotary District 1220 regional finals in February.
Judges included master chef Enzo Guarino, restaurant owner Karina Guarino, businessman Chris Kraushaar and Rotarian Ron Eyley.
