Sustainable Hayfield gets cash boost
SUSTAINABLE Hayfield has been awarded funding by Derbyshire County Council for its village garden project.
The council has donated £450 through its Greenwatch scheme to further develop the site in the grounds of the village library, which began to be converted to a community garden early last year.
Funding will help the community group to develop more vegetable beds for community use, improve storage on site, acquire more tools, especially for children, and promote the work of the project through signage, education and interpretation materials.
Speaking on behalf of Sustainable Hayfield, food group lead Paul Finn said: “This is really good news. We’ve made a good start on site and this grant will help us go some way to achieve our development plans for the garden. We’re really grateful.”
Anyone wanting to get involved in the work should contact Paul on 01663 745574 or email paul_finn56@hotmail.com.
