Support heroes with new stickers

BUSINESSES are being urged to give servicemen and women a hero’s welcome with special new stickers.

Chesterfield Borough Council has launched this year’s Heroes Welcome scheme which gives firms the chance to publically acknowledge serving or former military personnel.

Under the scheme, shops, hotels, cafes, pubs, restaurants and taxi firms are being invited to display stickers giving a special warm welcome to servicemen and women.

Cllr Donald Parsons, Chesterfield’s Mayor, said: “I feel we owe members and former members of the armed forces a huge debt of gratitude.

“The Heroes Welcome scheme is a simple but effective way of showing that gratitude and how we appreciate all they do and have done for the country.”

Interested businesses can pick up the free stickers, which can be displayed in windows or windscreens, from Chesterfield Town Hall reception or the Tourist Information Centre.
