Staveley's golden girls
THE A-level success of these golden girls helped their Staveley school achieve record results.
Netherthorpe pupils Jamie Bytheway, Laura Pitchford, and Lauren Platts scored straight As, with Rachael Burton gaining three As and a B.
They were among 40 per cent of pupils at the school to leave with A and B grades, while over half achieved grade C and above, and the overall pass rate was a record 91 per cent.
Retiring headteacher Pamela Hedley said the hard work of students and staff had paid off.
She added: "I am pleased at the continuing success of a school which has come to mean a great deal to me during these last five years.
"I believe that Netherthorpe will maintain with vigour its pursuit of excellence and I look forward to hearing of even greater achievements in the future."
The average points score per student was 801.9, which is a rise of 54 points on last year.
Many Netherthorpe pupils gained the grades they needed to go to universities across the country including King's College London, Nottingham, Warwick and Manchester.
