Reveller broke a woman’s nose during fracas
From the courts
A REVELLER punched a woman in the face and broke her nose after a fracas erupted in a Ripley bar.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday how Teresa Robinson, 48, of Nottingham Road, Ripley, attacked Susan Hague who was enjoying an evening out with her daughter and her daughter’s friend at The Crib Bar.
Becky Mahon, prosecuting, said: “A large fight took place with numerous people and a female with blonde hair came for me and I grabbed her hair to stop her hitting me but received a blow to the left side of my face and my nose was bleeding heavily.
“She said that she felt shaken by what happened and had been standing minding her own business and got a broken nose as a result.”
The victim had to go to Derby Hospital, according to the court, where she had to have her broken nose straightened.
Chris Hallas, defending, claimed statements from Hague and her daughter did not match CCTV footage of the incident but he accepted there was one punch connecting on the nose.
Robinson, who has a previous conviction for intimidating witnesses and a caution for a common assault, pleaded guilty to assaulting Susan Hague during the incident in February. District Judge Andrew Davison described the offence as serious and adjourned the case until Friday, March 15, for sentencing.
