Police are urging motorists to keep to the 30mph limit through Winster amid residents’ fears that speeding drivers are putting lives at risk.

On November 21 officers parked on Wensley Road to monitor drivers’ speeds and were extremely concerned with their findings.

Out of the 53 vehicles clocked in a 30 minute period, nine were seen driving over 35 mph.

One of those drivers was doing 48mph, another was found doing 46mph, two were clocked at 45mph, one at 37mph and two at 36mph.

The issue could now be on the agenda at the upcoming Darley Dale and Winster Safer Neighbourhood forum meeting, due to be held at Winster Church Hall at 5pm on Wednesday, December 5.

Residents are being urged to attend the meeting to voice concerns.
