Pervert cyclist hunted

POLICE are hunting a Lycra-clad cyclist who exposed himself to a seven-year-old girl on a busy street in broad daylight.

The victim was by herself on Station Road in Brimington when the flasher struck — riding up to her, getting off his bike and exposing himself.

Police said the pervert cyclist got back on his bike and rode off up Station Road, leaving the child in an "upset and distressed" state.

Pc Tony Bagshaw, of Staveley police, said: "The young girl was very, very distressed by the incident.

"It is concerning and disturbing and that is why we are appealing for anyone with any information that may assist with the identification of this cyclist to contact us."

Police believe that the cyclist is somebody who cycles regularly because he was wearing tight-fitting Lycra cycling clothing and think that members of the cycling community may be able to help them identify and trace him.

The flasher is described as a white male in his mid-30s with dark hair and clean shaven. He was wearing Lycra shorts and a yellow and blue cycling top. He was riding a red coloured racing bike.

* Anyone with any information about the incident, which happened at 2pm on Sunday, September 24, should contact Derbyshire police on 0845 123 3333 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
