Pav appeal boost
News
CAMPAIGNERS hoping to bring a historic community building back in to use have signed a new lease.
The Matlock Bath Pavilion Group is aiming to raise £2m to renovate the building and has finally signed a three-year lease with Derbyshire Dales District Council – which could see them buy the building for a pound.
Group chairman, Gregor Macgregor said: “I am so pleased to see us move to the next stage of the plan, which I laid out two years ago. At that time we were seen as just a group of concerned locals, trying to get a futile campaign off the ground. Now we are a registered charity with a lease on the building we want to save.
“At the end of the three-year-lease there will be a decision as to whether it will be continued or the building sold to us for a pound. This will be based on how successful our charity is in raising Grant Aid for the renovation work.”
The group can start seriously applying for money to renovate the building.
