OLD TUPTON: Car collides with tree after skidding on black ice

A car collided with a tree and flipped on to its side after skidding on black ice.

The Nissan Almera was driving along Ashover Road at Old Tupton just before midnight on Monday, February 18.

It hit a patch of black ice and crashed in to a tree, bounced back in to the road, went through two bushes, hit another tree and flipped on to its side.

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. She was suffering from shock and concussion.

A front seat passenger was also taken to hospital. He was treated for concussion.

Two rear seat passengers - a man and a woman - were checked by the ambulance service but did not need medical treatment.
