OAP robbed in own home
Police are appealing for information after an 88-year-old woman was robbed at her home in Chesterfield.
The offence happened between 12 noon and 12.30pm on Saturday when a man visited the woman's home, on Vincent Crescent, Chesterfield, stating he was from Social Services.
When she opened the door he pushed her backwards and asked for money. He snatched her purse from her and stole cash before leaving the house and locking the back door behind him.
The pensioner managed to alert a neighbour and her daughter who contacted the police. She was uninjured but was checked over by paramedics.
The keys to the property were recovered from the path on the back garden.
The offender is described as white, slim build, in his early 20s, with short dark hair. He was wearing a beige anorak and dark trousers and had a black and cream or brown and cream checked scarf around his neck.
Around the time of the offence a neighbour saw a man standing outside the victim's garage for a few minutes. He was white, in his 20s and scruffy looking. He had dark hair, a pale skin and thin build and was wearing a long dark zipped-up coat. Anyone with information should call police on 0345 123 3333.
