TWO wards have been closed at Chesterfield Royal Hospital following an outbreak of norovirus.
The Pearson Ward and the Clinical Decisions Unit were shut this morning and are closed to visitors and new admissions.
A spokesperson for the hospital, said: “Pearson Ward and our Clinical Decisions Unit have been closed after an outbreak of Norovirus - or winter vomiting disease - which is currently rife in the local community.
“We’re not taking any new patients in these areas and are asking people not to visit if they don’t have to. Anyone with the acute sickness and diarrhoea ‘bug’ should avoid public places - and stay at home until symptom free for 72 hours.
“Good hand hygiene is vital to prevent the spread of all infections, including Norovirus - and we have plenty of advice about what to do on our You Tube channel www.youtube.com/thechesterfieldroyal”
