Night-time curfew on teenager in bust-up
A Dales teenager has been "grounded" at night by magistrates following a drunken bust-up with a bouncer.
Liam McClean was ejected from Escapades club in Chesterfield after midnight and was then caught on camera as he punched doorman Paul Briggs in the face.
"The bouncer didn't make a complaint of assault to police. He said it was just an occupational hazard," prosecutor Mark Salt told the justices at Chesterfield.
McClean (19), of Oker Avenue, Darley Dale, later told police he remembered throwing a punch at door staff but could recall nothing else because of the amount he had drunk.
He admitted using threatening behaviour and was given an 8pm-7am curfew for two months, with 85 costs.
He had two previous convictions for violence while in drink, plus an assault in licensed premises.
"On seeing CCTV footage he accepted what he had done. I think he hasn't yet recognised the impact that alcohol has on his behaviour," said probation officer Julia Gillott.
The court heard that McClean worked at a garage in Rowsley and was a day-release student in mechanics at Chesterfield College.
