If the span of a life is three score years and ten, these teenage sweethearts have literally spent a lifetime together.
Mary and Robert Taylor, who married just months before the start of the Second World War, have achieved the rare landmark of their platinum wedding anniversary.
The pair, who live on Nethermoor Road, Tupton, met in Grassmoor as teenagers and went on to marry at Hasland Church, 70 years ago.
Daughter Maureen Hutchinson (69) said: "They've been very happy together. There's not many couples who get to 70 years."
Mr and Mrs Taylor also have a son, Keith (64), two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr Taylor (91) was a miner all his working life, at Grassmoor and Glapwell Collieries, while Mrs Taylor (89) worked at Robinson's factory in Chesterfield.
He was a keen gardener until his late 80s and Mrs Taylor was a member of Tupton Women's Institute and Old Tupton Methodist Church Sisterhood.
They celebrated the landmark anniversary with a family meal, with guests including their respective sisters who were Mrs Taylor's bridesmaids and Mr Taylor's groomsman – his brother.
Maureen said: "We had a lovely day and they'd like to thank everyone for making it so memorable."
