Mr and Mrs A. Robinson, Tibshelf

A chance meeting through a mutual friend led to 60 years of marriage for a Tibshelf couple.

Arthur and Vera Robinson, from Brooke Street, met after the war at a mutual friend's house, before tying the knot at Chesterfield Register Office.

Arthur (95) was a corporal in the Army, where he worked as a driving instructor in the tank regiment, returning to his job as a butchery manager after the Second World War was over.

Vera (88), was a cook in the RAF and also worked as a factory cook before getting married.

Arthur, said: "Sixty years is a long while, but we've always had plenty to do and it has kept us busy."

Arthur enjoys landscape painting, while Vera enjoys cooking and knitting.

The couple have one son, a granddaughter and a grandson.

They celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a family get-together and also had a telegram from the Queen.
