Mr and Mrs A. Leivers, North Wingfield
A golden couple paved the way for 50 years of loving marriage after they first met walking to school and became childhood sweethearts.
Arthur and Glenis Leivers, of The Green, North Wingfield, tied the knot at North Wingfield Church, in 1959.
Mrs Leivers said: "We first met walking up the same path on the way to school when we were just 14 years-old and ever since we started seeing each other we've never been apart."
Mr Leivers was a colliery worker and a coal face deputy and Mrs Leivers worked at Robinson's, was a school dinner-lady and a shop owner before they retired.
The couple, both aged 68, have a daughter Lorraine, granddaughters Keeley, Jade, Paige and Daynor and a great-granddaughter Tori.
As their family came together to mark the couple's golden wedding anniversary, Mr and Mrs Leivers' thoughts also went out to their late son David and grandchildren Alisha and Tyler who sadly all passed away in a house fire in 2000.
Mrs Leivers added: "David would have loved celebrating this special time with us and would have been the first through the door at our party and the last to leave."
The couple hosted their party at North Wingfield community club with family and friends and as long-term Chesterfield FC season ticket-holders they welcomed club chairman Barrie Hubbard among more than 100 guests.
