Matlock pupils' wildlife trip
Children discovered more about the mini-beasts which can be found in their school grounds as part of a project to help the environment.
Matlock-based group Little Green Space launched its new school programme during a visit to Wessington Primary.
Sixteen children took part in a quiz to identify a range of invertebrates and visited neighbouring Wessington Nature Reserve to spot creatures for themselves as well as make short films about their discoveries.
Group director Penny Bunting said: "We had a very enjoyable morning and the children were keen to learn about mini-beasts and their habitats."
"The children at Wessington Primary School are lucky to have a fantastic nature reserve on their doorstep, as well as wonderful school grounds packed with wildlife-friendly features that are great for outdoor learning and encourage an interest in nature."
