POLICE are urging residents to have their say on the force’s spending decisions.

People can have their say on the authority’s online budget simulators and outline what they think police should prioritise.

The interactive facility is available on the police authority’s website to give residents a more realistic input in to this year’s budget preparations.

Later this month police will set their budget for 2012-13 which will require decisions over the proportion of the council tax bill to be allocated to policing and also how this funding should be spread across the constabulary’s resources and operational departments.

The budget simulator allows online users to put themselves in the shoes of police finance chiefs and decide how to spend Derbyshire’s £170m.

To have your say on how the budget should be spent go to http://policeauthority.derbyshire.police.uk/Homepage.aspx and click on budget simulator.

What do you think police should prioritise? Let us know by leaving your comments below.
