Fund-raisers aid pre-school play
Pre-school children are set to benefit from some new play equipment after a fund-raising race night took place in the town.
Supporters of Matlock Pre-school took part in the event at the Imperial Rooms to raise money to replace the school's outdoor equipment.
Punters placed bets on the races and a raffle and quiz were also on offer.
The event was organised by playgroup chairperson, Natasha Hubbard. She said: "I think everyone who came really enjoyed it, and we've raised nearly 500 towards our new outdoor play equipment. It's fantastic when we manage to raise so much money, especially when we all had such fun doing it."
She added: "I'd like to extend my thanks to all the people who came on the evening and who helped to organise it, and especially I'd like to thank the three local businesses, Bridge News, Milner Offroad and Real Edge, who sponsored the event and allowed us to make such a fantastic amount of money."
The playgroup hopes to raise 20,000 through grants and fund-raising to buy new state of the art play equipment for their site on Smedley Street.
