From Buxton to Afghanistan

A Royal Air Force Airman from Buxton is currently serving in Afghanistan, based out of Kandahar Airfield.
Sergeant Mike Wilson, 36, is serving a four-month deployment as a weapons technician with IX (Bomber) Squadron. He is responsible for the supervision of loading and unloading of weapons and specialist-role equipment on the Tornado GR4 deployment. The former Hope Valley College pupil joined the RAF in 1995 and has served in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Libya and the Falklands.
