Franke Sissons win DT's top business award
A pioneering Chesterfield firm at the cutting edge of global healthcare has been named as the winner of the first-ever Derbyshire Times Business of the Year award
Franke Sissons, which is celebrating its 225th anniversary this year, picked up the honour at a glittering ceremony held at Hassop Hall on Thursday night.
Judges praised the company's innovation in developing a 'touch-free' concept for hand washing and intelligent washrooms which has opened up new global markets in hygiene and healthcare.
The awards, run by the Derbyshire Times newspaper for the first time this year and sponsored by Derbyshire Enterprise Agency, attracted entries from across the county and business leaders said they hoped the event might spur others to take up the entrepreneurial baton.

Dawn Sweeney, managing director of the Derbyshire Times, who co-hosted the event with editor Mike Wilson, said: "The support we received for the awards has been testimony to the vibrancy of the business community here in Derbyshire."
