Former actor dies at 59

A SHIREBROOK-BORN actor who starred in ITV’s police drama The Bill has died suddenly at the age of 59.

Colin Tarrant, who was best known for his role as Inspector Andrew Monroe in the hit long-running series, passed away at Bristol Royal Infirmary last Thursday.

No details of the circumstances of his death have been released.

Mr Tarrant had performed in a number of stage shows since leaving The Bill, set in the fictional London area of Sun Hill, which was axed in 2010.

West End theatre producer David Pugh said Mr Tarrant was a “lovely man” who loved theatre and his family.
