FIREFIGHTERS from nine stations battled through the evening and into the early hours of this morning to put out a large blaze at a Chesterfield factory.
The fire spread through two units at Stonefirst Ltd, on Park Road, at Holmewood Industrial Park, about 1.45pm, on Tuesday, December 7, and emergency crews were detained until 5.30am, today, December 8.
A Derbyshire fire service spokesman said: “Two out of four units at a two-storey factory were involved in the fire.
“The building was well alight and the fire had breached the roof.”
Crews were called out from Chesterfield, Dronfield, Clay Cross, Alfreton, Staveley, Bolsover, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield and Ripley.
The scale of the blaze meant they were forced to deploy eight pumps, an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier and use firefighters in breathing apparatus.
Derbyshire Constabulary also closed off surrounding roads as a safety precaution as the fire was on-going.
The fire service is expected to launch an investigation today to help establish the exact cause of the blaze at the factory which supplies computer-related equipment.
