A nifty-fingered youngster has enjoyed success in a prestigious yo-yo contest.

Twelve-year-old David Braden Holmes, from Eckington, came second in the Trick Ladder Division of the European Yo-yo Championship after completing a number of skillful acts with his beloved pocket disk toy.

His day, Paul, said: “It was very competitive.

“He was competing against adults of all ages although he was the youngest there.

“He completed 500 hours of practice before he left.”

The schoolboy is seeded 92nd best player in Europe overall because of age and experience.

Paul added: “He is not nervous on stage.”

During the five-day competition in Hungry, the youngster met the best yo-yo player in the world, Hiroyuki Suzuki.
