Dronfield's A-team grows
The Dronfield A-Team gets bigger every year with a record number of students picking up the top grades.
William Gregory, Soraya Nabipour, Nathan Badger, Richard Briggs, Danielle Yardy, Tom Woodhouse and Rebecca Foster were among 13 Henry Fanshawe pupils who gained four or more straight As this summer.
Tom Woodhouse (18), who took history, English literature, biology and general studies, is now going off to Durham University to read history.
He said: "I was really happy but mainly relieved because there's so much pressure to get the grades for university.
"I'm really excited about going because there's a larger degree of freedom and you get to make a lot more of your own choices."
Dronfield school saw a six per cent increase in A and B grades – totalling 46 per cent – and achieved an overall pass rate of 97.5 per cent.
Headteacher Teresa Roche attributed the success to the consistent hard work of students and staff.
She said: "We are delighted for our students and their families and wish all students the very best as they move on to the next stage of their careers.
"I would also like to recognise and thank the post-16 team and other members of staff who have tutored students for their part in what has been an excellent performance this year."
