Drivers risk unfair speeding fines claim
Drivers could be caught speeding unfairly because of changes to speed limits along a busy Derbyshire Dales road, according to a concerned motorist.
The A6 at Darley Dale, which is monitored by 'safety' cameras, has been changed from a 40mph road to 30mph zone as part of a review by Derbyshire County Council to improve safety.
But Richard Williams-Menlove, who lives in Baslow and drives along the route twice a day, said he agrees with the speed reduction but believes there are not enough signs to warn the people who regularly use the route.
He said: "We have become used to it (being a 40mph zone] and I suddenly noticed the new sign.
"When they change the speed limit like that there should be more signs to say that it has changed. If you are not looking for it, you will miss it. "
A spokesman for the county council said: "All the signs we're required to put up are in place but we've ordered some extra signs to highlight the change to motorists further.
"These signs are due to be delivered this week."
The county council has also changed speeds from 40mph to 30mph on the A6, at Northwood, near Rowsley, and 30mph limits have been extended in Matlock Bath.
