Drive to curb bad parking habits

Parking problems are blighting village life claim residents - so police have stepped in to tackle the problem.

Villagers in Beeley have contacted their Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team to urge driver not to park on pavements.

Residents claim traffic chaos is hitting Devonshire Square, Chapel Hill and School Lane at weekends as cars are parked on pavements and pathways and blocking access to private driveways.

Police have been handing out leaflets to inform people about the issue and Derbyshire County Council highways department has painted white lines on some roads to prevent private driveways becoming blocked.

Safer Neighbourhood Pc Kevin Lowe said: "I would encourage visitors to use the designated car parks as this will help to alleviate the concerns for the residents of Beeley."
