DERBYSHIRE: Valentine’s Day potato is heart-shaped

A romantic cook is set to serve up a Valentine’s Day meal to remember - after finding a heart shaped potato in his bag of spuds.

Love is in the air today as the county celebrates... but for one Leabrooks man love was waiting at the bottom of a shopping bag from Aldi.

Surprised Darren Martin, 38, of Leabrooks, is set to cook the potato as part of a surprise Valentine’s day feast for his wife Lindsay.

Keen cook Darren, who works at Denby Pottery, added: “I don’t want to reveal what I’m cooking as it’s a surprise but when I saw it I thought I’ve got to use that.”

Other strange looking potatoes over the years include ones with likeness to President Richard Nixon and Elvis Presley.
